Mondays: Boogie Down Boogaloo Music & Dance Program!
Time & Location
About the Event
We have so enjoyed dancing with you each Monday night with our virtual “Salsa Suelta” program, part of the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series through, Boston Public Health Commission, Boston Parks & Recreation Department, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end — and this program wraps up on Monday, September 28th. Fortunately, endings often mark new beginnings and we are pleased to invite you to an amazing program starting up on Monday, October 5th at the same time!! As you may already know, MetaMovements is an artist collective. This means that not only do we choose to work together on programs like the “Salsa Suelta” series, but many of us also have independent projects and programs we are running in our own communities. One of your “Salsa Suelta” instructors, Amanda Cardona, has been leading a program called “The Boogaloo Project” dedicated to preserving the history of the art of Latin Boogaloo music & dance!
Through this project, Amanda offers a community dance program called BOOGIE DOWN BOOGALOO
This project is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the Bronx Council on the Arts. It kicked off in 2019 as a project for the Bronx community and now she is excited to offer it virtually and invites you to join the community!
So what does this mean for you?
That means that every Monday night from Oct 5th - Dec 7th, you will get to continue to enjoy dancing online — with some amazing instructors... as well as learn some history, and connect to this amazing culture from a totally new angle!
