Biography
Anara Frank's first passion was gymnastics, and she fell in love with Latin dance styles while living in Havana as a teen. Upon returning to Boston she sought out training in Salsa dance & music with April Genovese and Jorge Arce, and traveled extensively to New York, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and other locations to train with many inspirational teachers as she developed her unique style. Her focus areas have included NY Style Salsa & Cha Cha Cha, Latin Jazz, Horton, Dunham & Cuban Modern Techniques, as well as traditional Cuban styles including Son, Casino, Rueda, Rumba & Afro-Cuban, and Dominican styles Bachata & Merengue. She is thankful to have worked with inspirational coaches including Yesenia Selier, Eddie Torres, Frankie Martinez, Sekou McMiller, Joel Dominguez, Reynaldo Baro, Tomas Guilarte, Luis Roblejo, JoLea Maffei, and Karen Arceneaux, as well as so many incredible dance partners, colleagues and students who all have had their own unique influence in her life and career.

Anara is widely recognized for her expertise in developing artists, taking them up the ladder of success across a broad range of styles and techniques. As the founding director of two performing arts organizations: JAM'NASTICS Inc (1990-2005) and MetaMovements (2006-present), Anara has led dance exchanges in the US, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic and has trained thousands of students and instructors across a variety of genres, including Latin Dances from New York, LA, Cuba & the DR, as well as Modern Dance, Acrobatics, Gymnastics, and more.
Anara is recognized as a pioneer in the dance communities she has lived and worked in, with many of her students having gone on to become dance company directors , instructors, and internationally recognized dancers in their own right.
Anara is known for her ability to provide exercises and drills that help dancers of every level achieve their goals more quickly. Her own health challenges sidelined her from performance for many years and provided her with unique insights into how dancers can develop strength, flexibility, and resilience to continue their passion for dance during challenging times, and even how to use dance as a tool for healing. Anara is passionate about helping her students feel amazing and reach goals they never knew their bodies could achieve!

These days, Anara continues to create unique dance programs & events in Boston, Cuba and the Dominican Republic each year, and continues to teach, choreograph, lead retreats, and speak about the history of the dances she loves through tours, festivals and events worldwide. Anara believes deeply in the power of dance to transform our lives, and work is continuously inspired by her students, her travel, and her fellow artists and collaborators in Boston, the Caribbean, and beyond.
