About the event

Join us for an afternoon of contemporary dance workshops for beginner & advanced dancers.

In Contemporary Expression, Tina will teach a contemporary choreography designed to help you find freedom as you adapt it to your body and emotions. This class will be a space for us to explore our “story” and how we want to tell it through movement.  In Cuban Modern Technique, Anara will lead students through a series of exercises, drills, and combinations from this unique style. Cuban Modern is a codified technique, created in the 1960s, that fused American Contemporary (primarily Graham, as well as Limon, Cunnigham and Sokolow) with Afro-Cuban Dances and Classical Ballet. Today in Cuba this technique is used as the base for ALL other styles of dance training. In this dance the most notable feature is the amazing articulation of body movement, especially in the undulations of the arms and torso, and unique fusions of African movement combined with Ballet and Modern Dance which create an entirely new movement vocabulary.
